PocDoc named as key innovator in NHS Digital Transformation by Tony Blair Institute
PocDoc, the UK’s leading digital health diagnostics company, has been listed in a new report by the Tony Blair Institute as one of the leading examples of how digital innovation can help to transform healthcare in the UK from reactive treatment to more preventive care.
In its report, “The NHS at a Crossroads: The App That Can Transform Britain’s Health”, PocDoc has been featured alongside other health tech innovators such as Chiron and Skin Analytics as a prime example of how modern technology centred around patient care can help people to manage their health more effectively and have access to digital health tools when needed.
While exploring the future of the NHS app, the Tony Blair Institute took inspiration from PocDoc for their case study on how patients can effectively access digital health services and manage their health. PocDoc has developed a scalable point-of-care health check that enables end-to-end identification of cardiovascular risk and integrates into NHS care pathways in the app. This reduces the burden on primary care and connects those who are flagged as being at risk to the most appropriate care pathway.
The Tony Blair Institute recommends more collaborations with companies like PocDoc as a means of embracing digital health checks and reaping their benefits, including lower costs, improved access and uptake and reduced pressure on GPs.
Steve Roest, CEO at PocDoc, commented:
“We are proud that the Tony Blair Institute has recognised PocDoc’s role in transforming healthcare in the UK, moving from reactive treatment to proactive prevention. The report highlights what we at PocDoc already believe in, especially the clear benefits of digital health tools: lower costs, improved access, higher uptake rates and reduced pressure on our GPs. It shows exactly what we’ve been trying to do here at PocDoc and will continue to do to help identify more high-risk patients and lead them on the right care pathway.”
