PocDoc and Cumbria Health Win National Award for Innovation in Digital Heart Health Checks
Cambridge, UK, October 29th 2025: PocDoc, the UK’s leading digital health diagnostics company, together with Cumbria Health, has been awarded the Digital Impact (Technological Innovation) Award at the 2025 Urgent Health UK (UHUK) Awards.
The award recognises the outstanding work in transforming cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention through the delivery of digital home health checks across the North of England.
The award-winning programme, commissioned by the Department of Health, is delivering over 9,000 Healthy Heart Checks to homes and workplaces across Cumbria. Using the PocDoc platform, patients can complete full NHS-equivalent heart health checks on their phone, including a cholesterol profile, BMI, heart age, and 10-year risk of a heart attack or stroke, whilst reducing the burden on GP practices.
This marks the largest NHS-funded home screening initiative of its kind, with uptake rates exceeding 90%. The results demonstrate a clear demand for accessible, digital-first prevention, particularly in rural areas where access to in-person care is more limited.
With the NHS estimating that each digital health check could save 20 minutes of NHS time, this partnership provides further evidence of the potential of digital diagnostics to transform patient care and the UK health service, supporting the Government’s ambitions to shift care out of GP surgeries into home and community environments.
Steve Roest, CEO of PocDoc, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to win this national award with Cumbria Health. This is about scaling prevention in a way that actually works for people. From testing to treatment in minutes, from home. The NHS is showing what modern healthcare can look like.”
Richard McGregor, Head of Digital and Performance at Cumbria Health, added:
“ It’s all about prevention over treatment. We are so proud to work with PocDoc throughout the programme, using their amazing technology. This award is for PocDoc, it’s for the NHS, it’s for Cumbria Health, and most importantly, it’s for the patients we serve.”
PocDoc’s technology is also being used in other regions to support the NHS’s ambition to deliver one million additional health checks over four years, by shifting testing out of GP surgeries and into homes and workplaces.
The UHUK Awards recognise excellence in urgent and integrated care. The Digital Impact category highlights organisations that use technology to improve patient outcomes, access, and efficiency. This year’s conference brought together more than 200 NHS leaders, innovators and care providers from across the country.
This award builds on PocDoc’s growing footprint in the North of England and its ongoing mission to make high-quality preventive care more accessible to communities across the UK.
