Cumbria Health and PocDoc to deliver more than 9,000 Health Checks in workplaces across the Northwest of England as part of nationally commissioned prevention programme
PocDoc is thrilled to be partnering with Cumbria Health to deliver 9,000+ health checks to workplaces across the Northwest of England as part of a nationally commissioned programme of cardiovascular disease prevention led by the Department of Health.
Through a combination of in-person and home-testing kits sent out to employees’ homes, Cumbria Health will be revolutionizing patient access to preventative testing for cardiovascular diseases in the workplace, using PocDoc tests.
Cumbria is one of the UK’s most rural and sparsely populated areas, with patients citing long travel distances and difficult public transport as reasons for not attending appointments at the GP, including their NHS Health Check.
PocDoc’s Healthy Heart Check:
The Healthy Heart Check, developed by partners PocDoc, uses Microfludic Assay technology, the company’s patented HUESnap® AI platform and a smartphone to provide patients with an NHS-equivalent cardiovascular screening at home, or in-situ, without needing to visit a GP.
The nationally funded programme will operate alongside the existing in-person NHS Health Check and is expected to contribute to an additional one million checks over four years across the UK, while easing pressure on GP surgeries.
The PocDoc app and digital pathway collects all the information needed for the Healthy Heart Check within ten minutes, including a full lipid panel, QRISK score (including NHS Heart Age and 10 risk of having a Cardiovascular event), blood pressure and BMI. The app displays all results, including blood marker values, in a health dashboard in line with NHS clinical guidelines.
Patients will be offered the free option to discuss their results with a clinician if they wish, where they will be offered lifestyle advice and resources to help patients understand their results. Referrals to GPs will only be made if further tests and treatment are needed, or results indicate more urgent care is needed, helping to reduce demand on GP services.
